VI.T15 (NoDist Theorem) proves that a virus outside a host fails three of the five τ-Distinction conditions: D1 (boundary self-maintenance), D3 (interior-exterior coupling), and D5 (population structure with repair budget). The proof is by direct verification: outside a host, a virus capsid has a boundary (D1 ✓) and a history (D4 ✓), but cannot maintain its boundary independently, has no metabolic coupling, and has no self-repair. Since a minimum of 4/5 conditions is required for τ-Distinction, viruses are structurally excluded.

The question ‘are viruses alive?’ is one of the most debated classification problems in biology. Viruses satisfy some criteria for life (they evolve, they replicate, they carry genetic information) but fail others (they cannot replicate independently, they have no metabolism, they do not maintain homeostasis outside a host).
VI.T15 (NoDist Theorem) resolves this definitively within the τ-framework.
