Homochirality Universality: 12-Step Derivation from K0–K6 to L-Amino Acids

The universal chirality of life — L-amino acids and D-sugars — is derived in a 12-step chain from K0–K6 through the Parity Bridge. Open problem VI.OP9 is solved.

Biology High impact frontier problem Origin of Life Book VI

Overview

VI.T43 proves homochirality universality: all persistence-sector carriers (i.e., all life) inherit the same chirality from the unique polarity path through the weak sector. The 12-step derivation chain runs from K0–K6 through the τ-generators → ι_τ → weak sector (A-sector, π-generator) → Parity Bridge (VI.T01) → chirality seed → enantiomeric excess amplification (VI.T42) → homochirality universality. The result was upgraded from conjectural to τ-effective in Wave R7-A as open problem VI.OP9 was solved.

Detail

Homochirality — the universal preference for L-amino acids and D-sugars in all terrestrial life — is one of the oldest puzzles in biochemistry and origin-of-life research. The question has two parts: (1) Why is life chiral at all? (2) Why is the same chirality (L/D) used universally rather than a random mix? In the orthodox view, neither question has a satisfactory answer.

Book VI addresses both questions through the Parity Bridge (VI.T01) and the Homochirality derivation chain.

Step 1 of the explanation: The Parity Bridge Theorem (VI.T01) proves that the transition from E₁ (physics) to E₂ (life) factors uniquely through the weak sector (A-sector, π-generator). The weak sector is the only sector with nontrivial polarity functional (L01: Weak-sector uniqueness). This means the ‘gateway’ from physics to life is chiral by necessity — no other sector can serve as the bridge.

Step 2 (VI.T41): Propagation through the Parity Bridge preserves the chirality sign. A left-handed input yields a definite polarity sign output; this cannot be reversed by the Parity Bridge alone.

Step 3 (VI.T42, Stereochemical Selection): The SelfDesc closure of a persistence-sector carrier amplifies an initial chirality seed exponentially. Once a small enantiomeric excess ee > 0 exists, SelfDesc amplification drives ee → 1 (homochirality).

Step 4 (VI.T43, Homochirality Universality): Because the Parity Bridge is unique and chirality-preserving, all persistence-sector carriers — everywhere and always — inherit the same chirality sign. This proves not just that life is chiral but that all life shares the same chirality.

The 12-step derivation chain (VI.R26, Crown Jewel #50 in the Life audit, score 22) provides the complete logical path. VI.OP9 is marked SOLVED.
