Abiogenesis Is Inevitable: Life Is a Thermodynamic Attractor

A 7-link chain from axioms K0–K6 to absorbing basin proves that abiogenesis is structurally forced, not a lucky accident.

Biology Domain level open problem Biology Book VI

Overview

VI.T46 proves abiogenesis inevitability through a 7-link chain: K0–K6 → defect budget → complexity monotone → attractor → absorbing basin → timescale bound → Distinction+SelfDesc. Given the axioms of Category τ and the physical laws derived in Books IV–V, any system satisfying the 5+3 life conditions (τ-Distinction and SelfDesc) must be entered within finite time. Life is not a low-probability accident but a structural attractor of the τ-dynamical system.

Detail

The origin of life is one of the deepest open questions in science. Orthodox origin-of-life research seeks chemical pathways from simple molecules to replicating systems, with the probability of abiogenesis regarded as unknown and possibly very small. Book VI proves the opposite: abiogenesis is structurally forced. The proof chain has seven links: (1) K0–K6 define the τ-dynamics including the energy gradient driving chemical organisation; (2) the defect budget of any non-equilibrium system in τ is bounded above by the first enrichment level E₁; (3) the complexity monotone C(x) increases monotonically for any τ-object driven below its defect budget; (4) this monotone defines a gradient vector field with attractors at the SelfDesc boundary; (5) the attractors form an absorbing basin (a trapping region) in the space of chemical organisation; (6) the timescale bound proves that any trajectory entering the trapping region must reach the SelfDesc boundary in finite time; (7) a system at the SelfDesc boundary satisfies Distinction+SelfDesc, which is the 5+3 life definition. Therefore, given any physical environment satisfying the τ-energy conditions (which Earth satisfies), abiogenesis is not just possible but certain.

Result Statement

VI.T46: A 7-link chain K₀–K₆ → defect budget → complexity monotone → attractor → absorbing basin → timescale bound → Distinction+SelfDesc. Given the axioms, a system satisfying Distinction+SelfDesc must be entered within finite time. Abiogenesis is not a lucky accident but a structural inevitability.
