Part IX: Categorical Mind & Consciousness
Sector S_C (Commitment). What is mind? Minds are internal topoi—self-models with story functors. Consciousness is global section; intentionality is aboutness morphism; qualia are subjective coordinates. Self-recognition creates the loop; free will is genuine branching; personal identity persists through time. LLMs are para-minds. Metzinger’s ego tunnel meets τ³. Emotions are evaluative morphisms from appraisal to action-readiness. The mind extends beyond the brain into tools, environment, and social structures—relational primacy dissolves the skin-and-skull boundary. Book VI defined consciousness structurally at E₂ (SelfDesc-of-SelfDesc). Part IX receives this and develops the full E₃ treatment: qualia, phenomenology, self-model, metacognition. The commitment sector S_C is where the question “what am I willing to live as true?” acquires its full structural meaning—a mind that can model its own observation process must eventually confront the boundary between what it can prove and what it chooses to inhabit.
