What would NOT falsify tau: improved precision in coupling constants deviating from percent-level approximations (motivates higher-order computation, not falsification), or discovery of new particles within the five existing sectors. What WOULD falsify tau: confirmed sixth force, confirmed dark matter particle with sector assignment, or R prediction off by more than 1 ppm.
