If a large tensor-to-scalar ratio r > 0.01 is confirmed with the spectral consistency relation n_t = -r/8 of single-field slow-roll inflation, this would strongly favor an inflaton-driven mechanism over tau's regime interpretation. Tau would then need to explain why its regime mechanism mimics an inflaton with such fidelity. This is a genuine falsification risk.
