Tau predicts Lambda_tau = 0, but this does not mean cosmic acceleration is absent. The acceleration is a dynamical regime effect, not a constant of nature. The distinction between a true cosmological constant and a regime effect requires precision measurement of w(z) across a wide redshift range. Current data are consistent with w = -1 but uncertainties accommodate tau.
