The vacuum catastrophe (10^120 discrepancy) is the clearest diagnostic of the ontological layer distinction. The manifold-based QFT sums over continuous modes at arbitrarily short wavelengths that the profinite boundary algebra does not support. The catastrophe is a counting error: summing degrees of freedom that do not exist.
