Hierarchy of relaxation times: geometric relaxation (spatial redistribution on T^2) is much faster than topological relaxation (absorption by lemniscate boundary), tau_geom << tau_top; the former occurs within fiber-scale interaction times, the latter requires many orbit steps on tau^1.
