The ringdown readout of a merged coherent instance is the quasi-normal mode decomposition h(t) = sum A_n exp(-t/tau_n) cos(2 pi f_n t + phi_n), where each mode has a frequency f_n and damping time tau_n determined by the final mass M_f.
