IV.R181 — Why not a larger gauge group

Grand unified theories embed U(1) x SU(2) x SU(3) into SU(5), SO(10), or exceptional groups. In Category tau no such embedding exists: the five sectors have fixed structure determined by the generators and the coherence kernel. The gauge group is exact at all energy scales with no proton decay.
