Chapter 10: Predictions by Absence: Virus, Neutron, NS-to-BH
Three canonical non-Life failure modes sharpen the definition. A virus is NoDist (host-dependent distinction), a free neutron is NoDist (beta-decay breaks basin stabilization), and a neutron star near the TOV limit is NoSelfDesc (has distinction but boundary instability prevents code closure). The NS-to-BH transition constitutes the canonical Life phase boundary, and these structural predictions are falsifiable.
