Part III: What Propagates: Thermodynamic Inversion
Part III presents the most philosophically striking result in Book V: the orthodox second law is inverted. The arrow of time points toward order, not chaos.
Book IV, Chapter 22 proved the second law as a structural theorem about the refinement tower on τ¹: entropy is non-decreasing along the α-orbit. That proof is correct—but it describes the total entropy. Part III decomposes total entropy into two components: defect entropy S_def (the physically relevant disorder) and refinement entropy S_ref (the counting artifact of finer resolution). The total S = S_def + S_ref increases, but S_def decreases—monotonically, finitely, and to zero.
Six chapters trace this inversion and its consequences:
Chapter 21 (The 180^∘ Thermodynamic Inversion) proves that the τ-native second law is an ordering principle: defect entropy decreases along the α-orbit. Equilibrium is minimal disorder, not maximal chaos.
Chapter 22 (Entropy Splitting) defines the S_def + S_ref decomposition, proves that S_def is bounded and monotonically decreasing, and explains why orthodox physics sees only S_ref.
Chapter 23 (Global Defect Exhaustion) proves the Global Defect Exhaustion Theorem: S_def reaches zero in finitely many orbit steps. Irreversibility is finite, not eternal.
Chapter 24 (Heat Is Electromagnetism) re-reads radiation, conduction, and convection as B-sector (EM) transport mechanisms. Heat is not kinetic billiards; it is electromagnetic boundary exchange mediated by the fine-structure constant.
Chapter 25 (Vacuum Without Void) dissolves the 10¹²⁰ vacuum catastrophe. The ground state is the coherent boundary state H_∂[ω], not a sum of mode energies. No mode counting, no cutoff, no catastrophe.
Chapter 26 (Dark Energy as Readout Artifact) shows that cosmic acceleration requires no cosmological constant Λ. “Dark energy” is diagnosed as a category error: a base-progression phenomenon misread through the orthodox readout functor.
When Part III is complete, thermodynamics has been inverted—not overturned, but re-read from the τ-native perspective. The arrow of time creates order. The vacuum is coherent. And 68% of the orthodox cosmic budget dissolves.
