The stage is set: the fiber T² is the microcosm arena , equipped with the E₁ sector template . This chapter introduces the actors: particles. A particle is not a point, not a string, not a field excitation—it is a persistent defect bundle on T², a localized deviation from the vacuum torus whose topological invariants determine all observable properties. We define the defect tuple, the three particle kinds, and the mass–energy correspondence that turns topological resistance into rest energy.
